1. Oculus Quest 2 Advanced All-In-One Virtual Reality Headset
No products found.
Oculus is the market leader producing innovative and incredible performing VR headsets over the years. Oculus Quest 2 is a fine product giving a premium and high-end feel. Owned by Social Networking giant Facebook, Oculus has done its best work so far.
Key Features:
- Manufacturer: Oculus (Owned by Facebook)
- Connectivity: Wireless
- Weight: 1.8 Pounds
- Memory: 64GB & 256GB
The Oculus Guest 2 is smaller compared to the original Quest, lighter and less front-heavy which is pretty impressive considering the higher resolution display. The head straps give you a perfect, tight yet comfortable grip. The weight is distributed evenly and you don’t feel as if you have a heavy object attached to your forehead.
The controllers are redesigned variant of Oculus Touch controllers built to deliver better tracking. The keys on controllers include two shoulder buttons for firing and grabbing things, a clickable analog stick, and a pair of face buttons on both the controllers. The wrist straps are added bonus to make sure the controllers don’t go flying in the middle of intense fighting. (Hah!) We found the controllers to be great and comfortable to use.
Performance-wise, the Oculus Quest 2 is better than its predecessor i.e. the original Oculus Guest. It uses a Snapdragon XR2 chip combined with 6GB RAM. The specs make sure the VR headset runs smoother than its rivals. Games like Beat Saber, Pistol Whip, VRchat, and Vader immortal sun super smooth with crisp and clear audio and video output for an immersive VR experience like never before.
The VR headset comes with a 2-3 hours battery time which is considered standard. It only takes 2 hours to get it charged to 100%. Overall, the Oculus Quest 2 is simple to setup, use, and operate and you don’t need to have a PC to enter the magic world of virtual reality. The Oculus has everything in it for you!

Buyer reviews
- This is definitely a new experience. Some of the VR actually just makes your mouth drop and go WOW!..I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this to anyone wanting to experience VR.
- I love VR! There is always so much to do: talk to people, watch a movie, play a game, etc. I can literally play for hours and hours until the battery dies. There is unless amounts of things to do. I can’t believe I never got this sooner.
- First experience with VR. It was simple to set up, the image was quality, the games are interesting.
The headset is fairly heavy and uncomfortable after about 15 minutes. As parent who doesn’t want their kids immersed in tech, I wouldn’t call this a totally bad thing.
The games are 1 to 3 Gb each, so unless you’re planning on buying a ton of games, the 128 Gb model is probably sufficient. I got the 256 Gb and doubt I needed to go that route.Source: Amazon
2. Oculus Rift S PC Powered VR Gaming Headset
No products found.
The design of Oculus Rift S looks like something came from another planet. It looks robotic, alien and something from Hollywood Sci-fi movies but the only difference is IT IS REAL! It comes in a well-designed package, with foam inserts to hold things safely. Just unbox the gadget, plug it in, download the setup app and you are good to go.
Key Features:
- Brand: Oculus (Owned By Facebook)
- Connectivity: Tethered
- Weight: 5.9 Pounds
- Operating System: Android
The headset is not much different from the original Rift but you will notice five cameras – two facing forward and one on each side and one facing upward for amazing tracking even accurate than the original Rift.
Oculus Rift S has ditched the headphones and has built-in directional speakers instead which some may find attractive and comfortable but we are old school so we missed the headphones. However, Oculus offers earbuds and you can use your own headphone set if you prefer so.
The headset has an amazing collection of games and apps. However, most of them feel like demos since they only last a few hours. Currently, there are over a thousand apps and games in the Oculus Store. Nongaming apps such as VRchat are also available to play. Furthermore, you can enjoy Google earth VR which is a 3D mockup of the planet you can explore and have fun with.
Since the Rift S is a tethered system and relies on the system it is connected to, its performance is exceptional and out of the roof. The material is dense and of superior quality hence it can handle a few accidental falls. Overall it is the best VRchat compatible headsets for both the novices and the Pros.

- I really really love my Oculus Rift S. I have had this headset for 3 years now and still use it often. Coming from PSVR, this is such an outstanding upgrade. Not being tethered to any camera, with the use of the integrated sensors on the headset itself, allows such freedom to turn any direction without losing tracking. A well lit room works best, with few reflective surfaces. The guardian system allows placing a border in your room so you can map out exactly where you want to play and be warned when you get close to a wall, tv, dresser, etc. Technically and physically impressive device that provides hour ups on hours of fun in worlds you cannot possibly imagine without it.

3. Oculus Go Standalone Virtual Reality Headset
No products found.
Standalone VR headsets have been a fantast until recently. The available virtual reality headsets consist of either mobile dependent headset or tethered headsets that you need a powerful PC to run. The former are inexpensive, wireless but only work with expensive and powerful Smartphones. The latter is expensive, uses a lot of wires, and requires expensive hardware to run.
Key Features:
- Brand: Oculus (Owned by Facebook)
- Connectivity: Wireless
- Weight: 2.7 Pounds
- Operating System: Android
The Oculus Go is a standalone VR headset that looks a lot like Google Dream View but with no fabric cover on the visor. It’s like a plain gray plastic face mask with a flat front having the Oculus logo on the top. The top of the visor houses a power button, volume rocker, and an indicator light. Also, there is a micro USB charging port and a 3.5mm audio jack sits on the left side of the VR set. The storage options are either 32GB or 64GB.
It is much lighter than Mirage Solo and a little heavier than Daydream View. It is pretty comfortable to wear thanks to the breathable fabric and the wide comfortable elastic straps on the headband. It is comfortable enough to wear for the duration of its 3 hours battery life. We recommend, however, taking regular breaks if you are prone to motion sickness while using VR headsets.
The display uses 2560×1440 resolution split into 1280×1440 per eye. It has an LCD which means you will not be enjoying wide colors as the OLED display used by HTC Vive or Oculus Rift. The refresh rate is between 60Hz and 72Hz depending upon the software, yet the picture is crisp and clear which gives an immersive VR experience.
The Oculus Go standalone headset will not give you the most advanced and out-of-the-world VR experience but for the price, you shouldn’t expect something exceptional either. Overall, this is the best introductory VR headset we have reviewed with the lowest price tag and no additional high-end equipment required to setup.

4. Oculus Rift + Touch Virtual Reality System
No products found.
The Oculus Rift plus is a powerful PC tethered VR headset with a very affordable price tag. If you are about to enter the world of VR, you can’t go wrong with Oculus Rift+ thanks to the Oculus Touch motion controllers and excellent tracking performance.
Key Features:
- Brand: Oculus (Owned by Facebook)
- Connectivity: Wired
- Weight: 2.2 Pounds
- Operating System: Windows
The requirements for Rift plus are, an intel i5-4590 or better CPU, an Nvidia GTX 970 or better video card, a minimum of 8GB of RAM, an HDMI 1.3 output, 3 USB 3.0 ports, and one USB 2.0 port to run the Oculus Rift. One of the ports is used for additional sensors of Oculus Touch controllers. You can even set the headset with just two ports, one for the headset and the other for the external sensor.
The headset has a simple yet well-thought-out design. Its front panel is flat housing the Oculus logo only. The sides of the visor are flat as well and connected to the arm and three-strap harness to secure the gadget on your head. The straps are easily adjusted. The headphones can be adjusted to fit over the ears for a comfortable experience.
The controllers were launched as an optional purchase initially but they have been added to the basic oculus package ever since. The setup is easy as the breeze, and the cable that connects the headset to the PC is long enough to allow you free movement within the play space.
Oculus Rift plus produces an immersive, crisp, and amazing virtual reality experience. It includes Oculus touch controllers and a second sensor that enables the whole-room VR experience. If you are new to virtual reality and don’t want to spend more, Oculus Rift plus is the best choice to go with.

5. Samsung HMD Odyssey+ Windows Mixed Reality Headset
No products found.
Samsung’s HMD Odyssey + offers a breathtaking joyride into the world of VR. Although, the headset is a little pricey compared to Oculus Quest 2 and Oculus Quest Go, the built-in audio and overall performance of Odyssey + justifies the price tag so well. Odyssey plus is the best offering of the Korean tech giant when it comes to virtual reality.
Key Features:
- Brand: Samsung
- Connectivity: Bluetooth
- Weight: 1.76 Pounds
- Operating System: Windows Mixed Reality
Odyssey plus is the enhanced variant of the original Odyssey which we shall review later in the list. The company made changes in the ergonomics, convenience, and overall comfort level of the VR set. Although, the headset is not the most lightweight yet the padding around the visor and rear makes it exceptionally comfortable to use for long hours. The headset fit and the distance between the lenses are adjustable to get the best VR experience.
The controllers have thumb-tick, trackpad, trigger, and menu buttons and are powered by 2 AA batteries. Made out of high-end plastic material, they can withstand continuous use. Samsung odyssey plus’ forte is the display and it is also the key selling point of the headset. Its dual AMOLED display offers 1440×1600 resolution which is at par with any high-end VR headset available on the market.
Unlike other VR headsets, people who wear glasses will feel comfortable using the Odyssey plus. Its flashlight feature lets you have a look at the real world through your headset. The classic Samsung design i.e. black, sleek, and glossy gives a premium feel.
Although, Samsung is a new entrant in the world of VR yet the odyssey plus offers a stunning visual and exceptional audio experience to VR freaks. It is not the cheapest headphones on the market –if you are looking for one- but certainly the best VR headset for VRchat and other gaming adventures.

6. HTC VIVE Cosmos
No products found.
HTC Vive Cosmos is the latest and upgraded variant of the original Vive. It has ditched the external sensors and the redesigned motion controllers and a great step forward. Although, the price tag is hard to digest but since it is a PC-powered tethered headset, the performance is unparalleled that no other VR headset can offer.
Key Features:
- Brand: HTC
- Connectivity: Tethered
- Weight: 2.2 Pounds
- Operating System: Windows
The Cosmos boasts a colorful body than the original Vive with 6 cameras for incredible performance and excellent tracking. Two of them are forward-facing while 4 are placed on the top and bottom edges. The papillary distance knob and power LED button sits below the right-facing and left-facing cameras respectively.
The visor is mounted on a single hinge that is connected to the plastic arch. If you find plastic hard and cold, do not worry; the arches are well padded with foam and leather. An elastic strap ensures a secure and comfortable fit.
On-ear headphones are resting on short arms on both sides of the headband. You can flip the headphones up, down, and slide vertically to adjust to your ear for a perfect audio experience.
When it comes to display quality, the Vive cosmos does not disappoint at all. It displays a 1700×1440 pixel resolution image picture per eye beating Oculus Guest and HTC Vive Pro. There are VR headsets providing even greater resolutions but this one does a great job with graphics. Also, the 90Hz refresh rate is at par with other premium headsets and keeps the movement smooth and lag-free.
With stunning features, stellar audio and video quality and improbable tracking, if you don’t mind spending few extra bucks, this is the deal!

7. Google Daydream View VR Headset
No products found.
When it comes to the cheapest VR headsets around, Google’s Daydream View and Google’s Cardboard VR headset fit the profile. Google Daydream View VR headset is a very well-designed, comfortable piece of hardware.
Key Features:
- Brand: Google
- Connectivity: Wireless
- Weight: 0.2 Kg
- Operating System: Android 7.1 Nougat
The Daydream View, like Samsung Gear VR, is a Smartphone compatible VR headset. It is built with light gray, dark gray, or red jersey material. There is a flap where you drop your phone and a strap that goes behind the head to hold the headset comfortably over your head.
Unlike Google’s Cardboard VR, Daydream comes with a controller. The tiny remote control has a touchpad, menu button, home button, and tilt sensitivity and it is equipped with a 12 hours battery and charges with a USB-C port. It is a far better option to control your VR experience as compared to the Google Cardboard VR headset.
The headset has no battery so it consumes the Smartphone’s battery and it does that pretty fast. If you are watching a movie with Daydream you should have your mobile’s battery full in advance to have an uninterrupted VR experience.
Activating the headset is straightforward. Download the Daydream companion app on your Smartphone, drop the phone into the phone slot and strap it on your head. There you have a home screen to browse all the available apps with the remote control. Also, you get a very limited version of Google play store offering apps like Google Art and Culture, Google Photos, Google Play Movies, Street View, and YouTube.
Overall, Daydream is the best cheapest VR headset for a mobile phone but so far it offers very limited content. If you are a novice to virtual reality you might find it entertaining but for a pro, it has nothing much to offer.

8. Samsung Gear VR
No products found.
Samsung Gear VR with Bluetooth controller is at par with Google’s Daydream View for build, quality, and performance. It is a foam padded VR headset with Velcro straps that go above & around your head. The padding is removable in case you want to replace it.
Key Features:
- Brand: Samsung
- Connectivity: Wireless
- Weight: 0.76 Pound
- Operating System: Android
The Samsung Gear is a Mobile powered Headset that offers an average VR experience. For movies and basic gaming, this no-frill headset is a wise pick without spending much on a fancy premium headset that requires a powerful PC to run.
It is compatible with S6, S7, S8 and Note 5 which connect to the headset using either a USB-C or micro USB port. There is a touchpad on the side of the headset, a home button for navigation, and a focus wheel towards the front is used to adjust the headset to match your eyesight. The headset fits well even with the glasses. It’s pretty comfortable, not sweaty at all, and doesn’t leak any light.
Setting up the headset is simple and easy. Simply snap your phone into the headset, and then disconnect it that will ask you to download the Oculus app. You get a 101 degree FOV which offers a smooth VR experience.
The controller makes using the headset easy in a big way. Selecting items without the controllers has been the most frustrating part of the VR experience. Either you had to stare at something for several seconds or tap the control pad on the side. A handheld controller is a step in the right direction.
The included controller fits well in either hand and has a touchpad, a large button, a trigger and a home, back and volume rocker. It is powered by two AA batteries and lasts for 40 days of use. If you prefer a seated experience Samsung Gear VR is your best bet.

Cheapest VR Headset for VRChat – Buying Guide
Finding the best headset for VRchat can be a minefield of unfamiliar technical terms and designs. That’s why we have crafted this buying guide to help you with the key features to look into while buying the best VR set for VRchat or any other activity of your predilection.
What are you looking for?
Before you grab one of those gadgets, make sure what are you looking for? It will defiantly be of assistance in deciding what type of headset will suit you the most. If you are looking for a basic VR experience, spending your hard-earned money on a fancy device is not worth it. On the other hand, for an incredible and exceptional VR experience tethered systems are the most powerful of all with stunning resolution and impressive refresh rate.
What do you intend to use it for?
There is a sea of VR content out there waiting for you to jump in. VR games, videos, movies, events, training videos, seminars you name it. For a powerful gaming experience, a tethered VR headset would serve you well. On the contrary, if you are new to virtual reality and just exploring, we would recommend you to go for a Smartphone-powered headset before switching to something advanced and sophisticated.
Resolution / Refresh Rate
Resolution matters a lot to have an amazing VR experience. The lower resolution will get you a ‘screen door effect’ where you can notice space between the pixels as if you are looking through a screen door. Apart from higher resolution, consider refresh rate higher than 90Hz to ensure smooth movement and lag-free gaming. A lower refresh rate may cause serious motion sickness.
Play Space
Playspace is the area that is required to have your VR setup. The space you need to use a VR is called Play Area or Play Space. For the tethered headset, you need space to keep your PC, base station, and external speakers. For a Smartphone headset, you don’t need any particular area for exploring the VR content. If space is at a premium, picking the Smartphone-powered VR headset would be a wise choice.
Box Room
The section where eyes meet the lens is referred to as Box room. There should be ample space to make you feel comfortable. If you wear glasses, having enough space becomes more important. A little extra space is required for a person who wears glasses in comparison to a person who does not.
Comfortable fit
A headset should be comfortable enough to be used for prolonged hours. There is only one way to check i.e. try the headset before buying. Visit a nearby store and try the headset to see for yourself if the headset is comfortable, lightweight, and feels durable. Check the padding on the headband and the visor which adds to the comfort level. If you intend to buy the product online (Amazon) check the weight, and read consumers’ reviews to know more about people’s experiences. Glasses compatibility, external headphones compatibility, and adjustable straps would be added bonus.
Budget
VR is still a luxury for some. The powerful PC-powered and standalone headsets are quite expensive to afford. With more and more manufacturers entering the market, there is more to choose from.
The more powerful VR headset means powerful performance and a fat price tag while mobile-powered headsets will cost you from 20$ to 200% which is far less compared to powerful PC-based or standalone headsets by Pimax and Oculus. In the end “You get what you pay for” is still relevant. If you are facing budgetary issues, we recommend Smartphone-powered headsets to start with.
